Deriving effective transport equations for non-Abelian plasmas
نویسنده
چکیده
Within classical transport theory, an approach is presented to derive systematically effective collision terms and noise sources for effective kinetic equations of nonAbelian plasmas. This procedure amounts to the ‘integrating-out’ of fluctuations, and is applicable for inand out-of-equilibrium situations. When applied to a hot non-Abelian plasma close to equilibrium we recover the collision integral and the noise source first obtained by Bödeker. It is also shown that our approach, and hence Bödeker’s effective theory, is consistent with the fluctuation-dissipation theorem. HD-THEP-00-23 CERN-TH 2000/098

Semi-classical transport theory for non-Abelian plasmas
We review a semi-classical transport theory for non-Abelian plasmas based on a classical picture of coloured point particles. Within this formalism, kinetic equations for the mean particle distribution, the mean fields and their fluctuations are obtained using an ensemble-average in phase space. The framework permits the integrating-out of fluctuations in a systematic manner. This leads to the ...
متن کاملAspects of Semi-classical Transport Theory for Qcd A
We discuss some aspects of a recently proposed semi-classical transport theory for QCD plasmas based on coloured point particles. This includes the derivation of effective transport equations for mean fields and fluctuations which relies on the Gibbs ensemble average. Correlators of fluctuations are interpreted as collision integrals for the effective Boltzmann equation. The approach yields a r...
متن کاملAn effective theory for ω ≪ k ≪ gT color dynamics in hot non - Abelian plasmas
A proper sequence of effective theories, corresponding to larger and larger distance scales, is crucial for analyzing real-time equilibrium physics in hot non-Abelian plasmas. For the study of color dynamics (by which I mean physics involving long wavelength gauge fluctuations), an important stepping stone in the sequence of effective theories is to have a good effective theory for dynamics wit...
متن کاملDeriving the hard thermal loops of QCD from classical transport theory.
Classical transport theory is employed to analyze the hot quark-gluon plasma at the leading order in the coupling constant. A condition on the (covariantly conserved) color current is obtained. From this condition, the generating functional of hard thermal loops with an arbitrary number of soft external bosonic legs can be derived. Our approach, besides being more direct than alternative ones, ...
متن کاملLongitudinal subtleties in diffusive Langevin equations for non-Abelian plasmas
Bödeker has recently argued that non-perturbative processes in very high temperature non-Abelian plasmas (such as electroweak baryon number violation in the very hot early Universe) can be quantitatively described, to leading logarithmic accuracy, by a simple diffusive effective theory. Bödeker’s effective theory is only intended to describe long-distance transverse electric and magnetic fields...
